Traditionally, Photography uses light sensitive materials and chemical baths in a darkroom to develop images from negative films. With digital advancements in photographic production of images, there are myriad opportunities for experimentation.
I employ non-camera techniques to reduce the medium of photography to its basic elements, revealing qualities inherent in each individual material, technique and process.
I work directly onto the 35mm photographic film, using unconventional liquids and substances like orange Juice, sugar, household bleach, coffee, tea and salt, forming many different solutions. I experiment with a combination of locally sourced materials and media, rather than the known commercial darkroom chemicals. With these, I produce subtle abstract compositions which are normally blown up to large proportions. The resulting images are hung on walls or hang in free space.
